Painting

In a desperate attempt to keep the kids from asking to watch TV, play video games, etc. I got out a bucket of paint and some brushes.  I am trying to add more "white" items to the house to brighten it up, so they painted a table to put next to my new chair.  Dean is helping me to re-do our fireplace mantel with a birdhouse/bird theme.  I found a birdhouse at a store it looked gold and yucky.  So he painted it and we are going to make some eggs for it.  He also wants to make our own nest out of twigs, we may try that next week.

Dean and Ellie painting the table with a lot of bike breaks, after a while they just left their helmets on while painting.
The Finished Product

The Original birdhouse

The finished product.  It holds our first egg.  It was harder than we thought to cover a plastic egg with fabric.

We love this tree and its blooms every Spring
It means Spring is here

So pretty....

Crafts

Our school art teacher gave me the idea to use burlap, a large blue sewing needle (the platic kind) and yarn to entertain the kids.  They really took to it, and have created some nice stuff.  Ellie even made a heart for her best friends birthday gift, framed it, and gave it to her.

Here's Dean Finished Product, I hot glued his flower to a candle.

Here is Haden's finished product.  A flower. He used plastic instead of burlap.

Ellie's final product, a heart.  We framed this one because it was her first attempt, and she did a great job!

This is a work in progress, a special gift for someone.....she is taking it slowly, working on it a few stitches at a time, sometimes taking a break for a few days before starting up again.  I can't wait to see the finished product!
